Other Activities & Resources
"The Church ... is the body of Christ. Every Christian is a member or organ of the body while Christ Himself is the Head, controlling the body's activities. Not every person has the same function, but each one is necessary for the maximum health and usefulness of the body. Moreover, the whole body is animated by a common life. This is the Holy Spirit. It is His presence which makes the body one."
-John R.W. Stott
The Holy Spirit Banner
The banner with the large white dove on it and the words "Come Holy Spirit" came to us in a very special way. The Holy Spirit urged two couples to visit us; Johanna and Rob from Valleyfield, and Denise and Arthur from Wales. The two ladies each separately were inspired to present this church with a banner. Johanna was given a dream showing her the color and design of the banner. Two ladies from her church then set about to make the banner. On Feb. 27, 2000 the banner was ready. Arthur flew in from Wales to participate. The people from Valleyfield who were involved came to make the presentation. Johanna had prepared a liturgical dance. She dressed as the bride of Christ in a white gown and danced as Rob slowly walked the banner up the aisle. He presented it to Peter Blunt who was then the Pastor of St. Paul's Church. Arthur prayed for our parish and shared some very moving thoughts with us. The congregation was greatly touched by the Holy Spirit during this glorious event.
A prayer for St. Paul's Congregation
0 God draw us closer to yourself that we may be drawn closer to one another.
Deepen our faith, sustain our hope and enlarge our capacity to love.
Let the mind that was in Christ Jesus, who came not to be served, but to serve, be in us.
Grant to us the gifts ofthe Spirit that we may bear faithful witness to the Lordship of Christ by word and deed.
May we be so conscious of your rule in our own lives that with quiet confidence, we may proclaim as He did, that your kingdom is at hand here and everywhere in the world.
We pray this in His holy name.
Amen
